The new 108,000-square-foot College of Osteopathic Medicine building fosters a welcoming and collaborative environment for medical education and research in the Conroe, Texas area. Designed as the first phase of an expanding medical campus, the four-story facility features instructional, research, administrative, and student life spaces, anchored by a central, light-filled spine and a tree-lined courtyard. Warm, natural materials combined with abundant natural light create an atmosphere of comfort and connection throughout the building.

A grand interactive stair or “community edge” links all floors and is flanked by student-focused spaces, including team rooms, study alcoves, a shared kitchen, a living room, and learning commons. Signature interior features include a 215-seat teaching theater, a flexible active learning classroom, and specialized labs for anatomy, simulation, and osteopathic manipulative medicine. The public art program enhances the spaces, most notably through a two-story tile mosaic by Amy Ellingson at the main entrance. Completed in just 23 months through a phased CMAR delivery process, the project exemplifies a collaborative, fast-track approach to building a future-focused academic medical facility.
